Originally short segments during the 1940’s NBC radio show of Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians, the Little Orley™ stories became a popular series of Decca/Vocalion vinyl records in the fifties and sixties. Written and performed by Hugh “Uncle Lumpy” Brannum (aka Mr. Greenjeans on the Captain Kangaroo TV show with Bob Keeshan) these classic children’s stories tell the adventures of farm boy Orley (sometimes written as  Lil’ Orly). Each tale ends with a lesson of sorts and down home humor caters to adults as well as children.
